Le Jocou (2051m)

Picture : Le Jocou (2051m)

Reaching its highest altitude at 2051 meters, the Jocou is situated on the line between the department of Isere and Drome. It is composed of a northern slope of steep inclined pastures, and of a southern slope with cliffs. It is accessible by an asphalt road starting from the pass of Lus la Croix Haute to the old ski-resort of Lalley at an altitude of 1355m. A country cottage marks the arrival.

It can be climbed through mountain pastures, by joining after 1300m of slope the peak of Archat which leads to the top of Jocou. This excursion requires good physical conditions, due to the slope of the pastures. The top offers a splendid panoramic view on the Trièves, the Vercors, and on the department of Drome. It is necessary to count 3h of walk starting from the station to the top, and 1h30 to go down.

For an easier tour without slope and offering on arrival a wonderful panorama view on Trièves, the Perrats (Pelats) is a beautiful excursion. By leaving the ski-resort, to the North, you will get to a towering point, overhanging the village Lalley. You will then admire the view all over the Trièves.
