Cornillon en Trièves

Around 27 before J.C., a Gallo-Roman occupant named Cornélius left his name to the pass of Cornillon, located at 885m of altitude. The village Cornillon en Trièves developed at the bottom of this pass counts several hamlets: Cornillon, Grand Oriol, Petit Oriol and Villard Jullien. It is in Cornillon en Trièves that the famous mineral Water of Oriol was discovered. Exploited since 1639, they were the only naturally gas mineral water of the French Alps.
Other curiosity: the Castle built in 1552 per Jean Faure of Cyprus, it is today being restorated for a tourist project. The field of Cornillon constitutes an exceptional unit still today but one should not have confused the current manor with the old Delphinal castle, attested for the XI century and which one is unaware of the localization. It is here about a building not going up beyond the Rebirth, belonging to a single whole in Trièves. It includes/understands one second house of Master, two large farms of which a part is former to 1834 and one church rebuilt in the current of the XVII ème century.
L' old cure still has an arched room very damaged, decorated paintings. To the XVII ème century, the field of Cornillon passed by heritage of Faure of Cyprus to Sibut de Saint Ferriol. During the Revolution, it was sold like national good in four shares.
Jean-Jacques Richard, trader with Mens, seems to have acquired the second house of Master but not the manor. The purchasers of the other batches were Jean-baptiste Merlin, Elisabeth Saussac (Allourd widow) and Joseph Riondet. One is unaware of which of these batches included/understood the Manor then but it is known that in 1834 this one belonged to Napoleon During-Savoyat, old representing of the people of the Constituent one. He was acquired about 1898 per Edmond Richard-Béranger, descendant of Jean-Jacques Richard and of Jean Béranger, wire of a minister protesting of Lie, who was a pharmacist then army medical officer before being an influential politician, of 1792 at the end of the Monarchy of July. It exerted important public office and was seen decreeing by Napoleon, Louis XVIII and Louis Philippe of very high distinctions.
Il was in 1795, under the Directory, elected official appointed with the Council of the Five hundreds. He was named Count of empire in 1808, under Napoleon and par of France in 1832 pennies Louis Philippe. The unit which the Castle constitutes, the House of Master and many constructions belonged to Jean BERANGER, were born in Mens in 1767. After one century, the unit of the field of Cornillon was thus reconstituted.
