Miribel Lanchâtre is situated at an altitude of 750 meters (360 inhabitants called lanchâtrous) in the district of Monestier de Clermont.

The village has a primarily agricultural vocation. Lanchâtre with the old houses would be the site of an old Roman camp while Miribel has the ruins of a strong feodal castle.

This village is also known for its activity of glove factory which is stopped since 1970.
